I know that today’s blog will be offensive to some and others will agree with what I am saying. I believe that we need to stand up for our beliefs as Christians and not be silent any longer. I am not writing about what is happening on the political scene, even though there are many things that I could discuss. I am writing about something that I saw Saturday as I was driving through the DFW area on I-30 – Billboards that promoted heresy. The whywouldwe.org has started an advertisement campaign using billboards to promote their agenda. There are several churches behind the campaign, which are pro-homosexuals.
I am not going to go into all the issues about homosexuality. I am appalled at the misuse of scripture the website uses. They interpret scripture to make it read so that their lifestyles are not wrong or sinful. Even as I read some of their arguments, I thought I would be sick. I thought that they would just skip passages that Paul wrote about homosexuality, but they don’t. The interpreters of the passages say that Paul only was speaking about lost humanity and heathenistic individuals. If a person “loves God” and “worships God as God” then being homosexual is OK according to an article I read on the website. That completely makes me ill.
Genesis 1:27-28 (ESV)
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Now before you think that I am completely judgmental and unforgiving, I do believe that there is only one sin that keeps you out of heaven and that is not accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. I believe that God loves us exactly in whatever condition we are in, but He is working in our lives to give Him glory and pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-13 (ESV)
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
We are created by God for His good pleasure. I am not sure how participating in something He calls an abomination (Lev. 18:22; 20:13) will bring Him pleasure.
I realize that if a homosexual reads this, he or she would not be inclined to change. That is not the purpose of this blog. The purpose of this blog is to ask Christians if we are guilty of justifying our actions using scripture inappropriately. Do we sin and then use scripture to say it is OK? I am afraid that every one of us has been guilty of that from time to time. I am sure that when we get to heaven our use of scripture will be brought before us at the Judgment Seat of Christ. It is so important that we: 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)
Do you believe that the Word of God is the ultimate authority? Do you believe that God has shown us how to live for His glory and pleasure through scripture? Are we willing to live by the principles and precepts that are given to us through scripture? I am challenged with these questions often. My answer is “yes”…What is your answer?
By the way, God always loves the sinner but hates the sin. That is why Christ always told the sinners “to go and sin no more.” Hard to live that way, but that is the way God truly wants us to live. Only by faith can we do that.
It’s time Christians were woke up from their slumber and look around them. Things aren’t as tidy as they would like for them to be. This is an Anti-Christ country we live in and we need to be aware of whats going on. I believe that it is upon us now that if we are preaching the truth then there will be more and more that aren’t going to like us and I’m talikng about those that profess to be Christians.
